Gayle missing place in West Indies' 13-member Test squad

The only new face in the team is Rahkim Cornwell who is a spin bowler all-rounder.

Gayle played in the last Test match against Bangladesh in 2014 and he did not look in the form in the first ODI against India in which he could score only four runs in 31 balls before being dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav's ball.

Before the World Cup match against India in Manchester in June, Gayle had expressed his desire to play the last Test match and wanted it at his home ground at Sabina Park in Kingston.

However, the West Indies selection committee headed by Robert Haynes did not do so.

The team is as follows:

Jason Holder (captain), Craig Braithwaite, Darren Bravo, Shamar Brooks, John Campbell, Roston Chase, Rahkim Carnwell, Shane Dorich (wicketkeeper), Shannon Gabrielle, Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope, Chemo Paul and Camar Roach.
