UN World Food Program received the Nobel Peace Prize 2020

Stockholm, The Nobel Peace Prize 2020 for the year 2020 was announced on Friday. This year the Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to the World Food Program, WFP. This organization has been fighting against hunger worldwide since the year 1961. It ensures that the population of countries can be given basic strength through food security.

The Nobel Committee said, "The World Food Program has played a leading role in efforts to prevent hunger from being used as a weapon of war and conflict."

The prize money for this award is 11 million dollars.

A spokesperson for the World Food Program responded to this saying that "it is a proud time for him".

According to him, in 88 countries of the world, they help about 970 million people annually.

What does WFP work for?

The WFP is the world's largest humanitarian organization working on the issue of ending hunger and promoting food security. In the year 2019, WFP worked to help 100 million people in 88 countries. The WFP plays an important role in multilateral cooperation in making food security a tool of peace. This has prompted UN member states to fight against weaponizing hunger in war-torn regions.
